Medication Policy

Prescription Medication

Caroline County Public School personnel may give medication to students only with a physician’s written order and a written, signed permission request from the student’s parent or guardian. Such medicine must be in the original container and delivered to the school nurse, principal or school division designee by the parent/guardian of the student.


Non-Prescription Medication

Caroline County Public School personnel may give non-prescription medications to students only with written permission from the parent or guardian. Such permission shall include the name of the medication, the required dosage of the medication, and the time the medicine is to be given. All medication is to be provided by the parent/guardian and must be in the original container. The medication is to be delivered to the school nurse, principal or school division designee by the parent/guardian of the student. In order for a non-prescription medicine to be given more than five days, written permission from the child’s physician shall be required.
